Amani Island
History
Syzygy
The first land to exist in Uaria was Syzygy. Created by the two siblings, Armitage and Mark, Syzygy was created a floating island, graced by gold skies and clouds. For the next 10,000 years, it was a peaceful paradise. Mortals, called Cosmics, and Gods coexisted. The Cosmics' lives were guided by divine hands.
The First Wave of Disease
The peace in Syzygy was shattered when an unknown disease swept across the town. 10% of the population passed away due to it.
The First Genocide
Fear and paranoia became rooted in the Syzygyns. Many of the citizens who were afflicted by the disease were farmers, leaving food and water scarce. In desperation, the region turned on itself, leading to the first genocide in Uaria's history. The slaughter was aimed at food-holders, the infected who remained and containing the spread. It lasted for 10 years. When it was settled upon being over, the Cosmics decided to mark the era by naming the next generation "The Syzygyn."
The First Winter
The island entered its first winter soon after the genocide had settled down. It was an age of darkness that evolved The Syzygyn to adapt to harsh weather, difficult terrain (ETC.). Survival had become a struggle until Mark, The Deity Of Lunar Twilight, grew crops himself using the magic of the land. By the end of the winter, when communities had begun to come together again to help each other through the storm, it had lasted 300 years.
The Second Genocide
With the island weakened from the first genocide and the first winter, a new threat emerged-a dangerous entity known as BRFX. The Syzygyn labeled BRFX's species as the Xotet, monsters from the underside of the island. BRFX embodied destruction, ruin, and the force of death. It's arrival signaled The Second Genocide, an even more devastating event than the first, as the rest of its kind infiltrated the island and killed 49% of the population, almost all of the town square. Armitage attempted to fight it off several times to banish it, to no avail. Mark was nowhere to be seen.
The Rise of Queen Amani
Hope had been lost for the survivors of Syzygy. After centuries of hardship, many people accepted living in fear and distrust. A month after The Second Genocide started, came the new Goddess of the Sun, Amani. Created by Armitage to aid her in power, she was intended to combat BRFX. With strength and grace, she succeeded to defeat it, but was too late to seal it away in the underworld before it escaped from the island entirely. As she tended to the survivors, the people of Syzygy recognized her kindness and leadership, anointed her as their queen. Over the course of 700 years, Amani transformed the land, restoring peace and order while offering her services and compassion to the broken communities. Her rule marked the beginning of a new era with the floating island now taking her name and inheriting her magic. "Syzygyn" born under her rule were now called "Amanians". Armitage was no longer to be seen.
The Island Split
After centuries of growth, the island of Amani divided into three provinces-The Asna Province, The Leskalos Province and the Uguri Province. This split was driven by the Amanians' need for localized protection. Each province developed its own culture and customs while remaining united under Queen Amani's rule.
The First Aurethys
The first celebration of the Aurethys took place on February 1st, marking Amani's birthday. The event was a symbol of gratitude for Amani's support, as she helped everyone struggling with food cultivation, implementing citizen protection, and providing peace for the families who have lost. Festivities included rhythmic dancers, communal feasts and retellings of the island's history through performances.
Geography
Uaria
The world of Uaria is steeped in magic with mysterious lands and ancient secrets. At the heart of this world floats the enchanted island of Amani, serving as the focal point of the world's magic. It is deeply tied to Uaria's fate. The skies are pink and clouds surround Amani, acting as a protective barrier.
Amani
Amani floats 30,000 feet above vast oceans. The clouds surrounding the island form a layer that is impossible for outsiders to see through. Divided into three provinces-Asna, Leskalos, and Uguri-the island is varied with golden palaces to lush forests and barren wastelands. Amani experiences a variety of climates in each province. The inhabitants rarely venture below because of Amani's guaranteed safety, but there are three ways to travel: Flying Animals (Spiritbound Owls), Sky Staircases, and Waterfalls of Light.
The Asna Province
The Asna Province is the capital of Uaria where Queen Amani resides in her palace. It's known for its wealth and cultural landmarks, including temples, marketplaces and festive squares. Thanks to Queen Amani's presence, Asna is in eternal sunshine.
The Leskalos Province
The Leskalos Province is a rugged, isolated place with harsh terrain, including rocky mountains and dense forests. It's the province known for being infested with Xotet sightings and encounters, making it especially dangerous for those who weren't raised there. Leskalos' weather tends to stay in neutral temperatures, but it's not uncommon to have storms and unpredictable weather. Many of Amani's fiercest warriors come from Leskalos.
The Uguri Province
The Uguri Province is a rural province with an importance on agriculture, known for its landscapes, rolling hills and crystal-clear lakes. Many outsiders, especially from Leskalos, are not welcome due to the rebellious factions that challenge the Queen. Uguri faces light showers throughout season, and has ideal temperatures for farming. The Uguri has nearly perfected the art of cultivation and are heavily relied on for food trade because of their ability to use the island's magic to grow crops in abundance.
Races and Species
Cosmics (First Generation)
The first and original celestial beings to live in Syzygy directly created from stardust and constellations by Mark and Armitage. The Cosmics once shared miniscule amounts of power within the island, but that has since died out.
The Syzygyn (Second Generation)
Syzygyn are the generation centuries after The Cosmics, characterized by being born after The First Winter. They were pivotal for shaping the island of Amani for the future. Queen Amani is the last of the true Syzygyn.
Amanians (Third Generation)
Amanians are mortal descendants of the Syzygyn, born after Amani became queen. They have a heightened sense of intuition for the land and are physically resilient. They are protective of their land.
Xotet
Xotet have unknown origins. They are monstrous, chaotic creatures characterized by their resemblance to wild animals. Highly destructive, they are threats to the island and seek to invade it to twist the magic for their own gain. They can have a range of abilities depending on the species they embody, such as extreme speed, enhanced strength, shadow manipulation and possession.
Anofao
An evolved form of Xotet. The Anofao inherit the capabilities of their kin in addition to being able to wield magic similarly to Amani. There are only a few in the world, but they are differentiated through their more human-like body and dietary limitation to raw meat. If you look closely, however, there are flaws to their imitative body structure, such as fang misplacement and body markings. The Anofao have exclusive abilities, such as poison control.
Spiritbound Owls
A species of enchanted owl in Amani Island. They are gigantic in size with differing colors depending on their province of origin. They are primarily used for quick transportation. Only those it bonds with can ride them, however. They can communicate through visions if they are being touched, and are capable of defending against dark creatures like the Xotet.
Eclipsis Flower
Eclipsis flowers are black and red 15-petal flowers used for herbal remedies, relaxation, and purifying the air. When brewed into tea, it can ease headaches and reduce stress. They are commonly found in meditation areas, gardens, and hanging in homes. They can also be offered as tokens of respect to Spiritbound Owls.
Magic in Amani Island
The island is imbued with magic from the cosmos of Uaria. It's woven into the island itself, reflected by its unique variety of plants and animals. Queen Amani is a conduit for this magic, being able to amplify and modify the magic such as influencing seasonal changes. However, her emotional state can impact her control.
Actions that harm or disturb the land or creatures is strictly forbidden and practice of it is viewed as betrayal by the Amanians. They believe that the health of their environment directly impacts their community's wellbeing.
Technology on Amani Island
Technology on the island is a mix between ancient craftsmanship and modern conveniences. While functional plumbing systems exist, they are enhanced by enchantment to ensure the water is clean and doesn't cause pollution. Traditional electricity is replaced by the island's natural resources as well, with light sources using glowing crystals from the Emberfall Caves. Most items rely on manual operation and enchantment.
Any new invention or improvement to an existing invention is held under community review and then approved. This is to make sure that progress doesn't come at the cost of their environment.
